HISTORY

Pelagos - Sea Heritage Exhibition, now in its 13th edition, will represent, from February 19th  to 27th 2011, the cultural island within the Big Blue - Rome Sea and Nautical Expo.

The protagonist of the event is, of course, the sea itself, with an exhibition area in which communication and entertainment events will be held.
PELAGOS communication campaign, articulating its activities through many projects, nowadays constitutes a national benchmark for commercial and cultural operators who represent a valid resource for the country and who are eager to give a valuable contribution for a strategic development plan of the resource Sea.

SEA HERITAGE BEST COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGN AWARD
"Sea Heritage Best Communication Campaign Award", the prestigious international award designed  to enhance and promote the environmental and maritime heritage of the euro-Mediterranean area,  offers the best communication campaigns that produce, in a very efficient and suggestive way, commercial initiatives, cultural programs and scientific research projects always focused on the Sea and its multiple aspects. The 2011 edition will also be enriched with a section about the renewable energy.

INTERNATIONAL SEA FESTIVAL
PELAGOS, in association with the World Festival of Underwater Picture of Antibes Juan-les-Pins, propose the International Sea Festival which represents a journey into the sea through numerous series of videos, photographs and slides dedicated to the marine world. The vast archive of audiovisual productions are intended to enhance public awareness around the sea and its health; among those numerous works emerge the outstanding documentary "The Cove", winner of the 2010 Academy Award for Best Documentary.

DOCUMED  and MARKET AREA
Documentaries about the sea and their distribution find their own place within the Documed project and its relative Area Market: producers, broadcasters, communication and media companies and distribution agencies have the opportunity to offer and present their products and services in order to promote B2B communication with professionals of the field.

PELAGOS, through the first web TV dedicated to the Sea, Pelagos TV,  provides the audience with interesting and suggestive contents about the sea. A new important focus of the next edition will be the study and the implementation of industrial cooperation with emerging countries of Latin America.

CULTURAL, FASHION AND ENTERTAINMENT EVENTS

Playing central stage at the Rome Sea Expo is an exhibition space dedicated to information and performances; hosting personalities, events and shows, the main stage at Pelagos and BIG BLU will be linked to certain themed "islands" that will provide additional recreational and learning opportunities.

The innovation of the 2011 Edition will be the "Match di improvvisazione teatrale®" a interactive and live show in which two teams of actors compete against each other improvising scenes about marine and energy topics.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING PATHWAYS:
“UN PASSAPORTO PER IL MARE”

Thanks to the cooperation and participation of our scientific and cultural partners, a number of varied communication and learning courses for all ages will be offered free of charge.

"Un Passaporto per il Mare" represents culture, science, art and history at the same time, which all together draw the lines to undertake an interdisciplinary trip, a discovery and educational pathway to infuse young people a renewed interest in the sea and its characteristics. The 2010 edition has led over 6,000 participants who took part in experiential courses and practical workshops organized by the partners of the MAR and Embassy of Underwater Image Festival Onlus, in an dedicated area of over 4,000 sqm.

SEA EXPERIENCE AREA

PELAGOS creates an experimental platform dedicated to the community of the sea, a place where interactive technology and innovative (i.e. visible tweets) and educational activities allow people to experiment and interact themselves or in a virtual mode with the multiple aspects of the sea.
